Places to Visit

Horsey Windpump

East Ruston village sits between the East Coast and the

Broads National Park. It’s best known for its Common,

with its unusual mix of grazing land, fen, and lakes. The

village is also home to the celebrated East Ruston

Vicarage Garden, famous for its wide variety of planting

and excellent tea shop. One of the owners, Alan Grey, is

a regular and entertaining guest on Radio Norfolk’s

gardening show The Garden Party.

The countryside here is peaceful and scenic, with quiet

lanes perfect for walking and cycling. The sandy

beaches of the east coast are just minutes away, while

the capital of the Broads—Wroxham—is only five miles.

Stalham Staithe (3 miles) offers boat hire, or you can enjoy wildlife at How Hill Trust on the River Ant with its wetlands, woodlands, and windmills — all the W’s!
