Our Story?

 

Oak Tree Cottages is a small family-run business of three generations. After holidaying in East Ruston and the surrounding areas for six years, we decided to swap the hustle and bustle of London for the peace, quiet, and beauty of North Norfolk’s countryside.

Why East Ruston?

 

After years of searching for family- and dog-friendly holiday spots, we were recommended this part of North Norfolk. We instantly fell in love — beautiful sandy beaches, endless fields, and loads of dog-friendly places to eat (and eat well!). Honestly, what more could you want?

A Bit About us:

 

• Andy – Dad and plumbing/heating engineer. He works in London mid-week, but he’s always back for the weekend — usually just in time to help us with changeover cleaning, and most importantly… the ovens. (Nobody polishes an oven quite like Dad. We let him have his fun!)

​

• Eloise – Our fearless youngest. Nothing phases her, she’s a whirlwind of energy, and she’s definitely the bossiest of us all.

​

• Lauren – That’s me! Normally glued to my laptop or phone, juggling bookings, emails, and Facebook updates. I’m your first point of contact, but I do love joining in with the cleaning — especially bathrooms. (Weird hobby, I know.)

​

• James – Usually at school, but when he’s home you might spot him whizzing around on his electric quad bike, or persuading us to head down to the beach.

​

• Chris – My husband, a carpenter by trade and perfectionist by nature. He can turn his hand to anything. He’s also part of the local RNLI crew, so if you see him sprinting off suddenly, don’t worry — he’s probably saving lives, not running away from small talk. He also keeps the lawns neat for everyone to enjoy.

​

• Sandra – Mum, aka the glue that holds us all together. She keeps us fed, watered, and sane, and takes great pride in putting together the welcome packs and doggy hampers.

​

• Arna (7) – Our four-legged family member. She’s still learning her manners (lockdown didn’t help!) and can sometimes be a bit reactive, but she absolutely loves her daily beach walks and evening zoomies in the field.

​

• Mike – Our wonderful friend who retired to Norfolk with us. He came for peace and quiet… and then moved in with us. Sorry Mike!

​

We get that sometimes you just want to enjoy your holiday in peace, so we don’t hover. But if you do spot us out and about and fancy a chat — please say hi! We love getting to know our guests.
