About us

Our Story?

Oak Tree cottages, is a small family run business of 3 generations. After holidaying in East Ruston and surrounding areas for 6 years we decided to leave the hustle and bustle of London behind and trade it in for the tranquil and picturesque countryside that North Norfolk has to offer.

Why East Ruston?

Well after years of searching Family & dog friendly places to visit, we were recommended this part of North Norfolk. We instantly fell in love, with beautiful sandy dog friendly beaches, endless fields and yummy dog friendly places to eat. What more could you want?

Why our Cottages?

Our cottages are pretty, traditionally built and set within the grounds of Church Farm. Finished to an extremely high standard and well equipped, Oak Tree Cottages is situated on the outskirts of the village.  Our cottages are in an ideal location to explore the wonderful beaches of Happisburgh, Waxham, Sea Palling and Horsey where you can see the seals, whilst having the Broads National Park virtually on the doorstep. Go to our Places to Visit page to see our recommended visits during your stay. The cottages benefit from ample parking, and each have their own garden. An additional shared play area also makes them the perfect accommodation for families or couple's wishing to enjoy a holiday together.  Shop: 2.5 miles Pub: 1.5 miles

Who We Are?

(From Left to Right), Andy is my dad who has a heart of gold and is a plumbing and heating engineer. Travelling to London to work Mid-week, dad is mainly here at weekends, he always makes it back in time to help us clean the cottages, and most importantly the Ovens - He is a bit OCD with his Ovens. Eloise (3) is our youngest and quite feral child, nothing phases her, she has no fear and is rather bossy too! Lauren (That's me!) Normally glued to my phone/laptop, updating Facebook, emailing, responding to your questions, booking you in and being your first point of contact. James (6) is our son, normally at school but you may see him driving around in his mini Batman Car or

helping us out in the cottages, he is a neat freak and loves to clean - I just wish he liked to clean his bedroom! Chris is my Hubby and is a carpenter by trade, but a complete perfectionist and can do whatever he turns his hands to.. He volunteers for our local RNLI, so if you suddenly see him drive off, he isn't being rude, he may be on his way to save a life. Sandra is my mum and the hub of the family, she keeps us all together, fed, watered and helps keep the cottages and clean and tidy. Then finally - Arna (2), she is our puppy GSD and is still learning her manners, but she is great with other dogs and loves her beach walks everyday and a night-time run around the field. You will also on occasion meet our very good friend Mike and our beagle Lilly. Mike moved to Norfolk with us for some peace and quiet, and our beagle Lilly (10) decided that she much preferred staying with him that putting up with Eloise. Lilly is friendly with both people and dogs - she may bark initially but as soon as you greet her, she will be all over you!

We know that sometimes you may not want to stop and chat so we do keep ourselves to ourselves, however if you ever see us out and about and do want to say Hi, please do so! We are here only if you need us.
