The cottages are located at Oaktree Fishery, in 20 acres of unspoilt grounds surrounded by Devon countryside. Oaktree is just 5 minutes from Dulverton.
This part of the West Country with its rolling farmland and close proximity to Exmoor and the spectacular coastlines of North Devon and Cornwall is perfect for either a relaxing break or a more active holiday. Set in a secluded picturesque spot just outside Dulverton, Oaktree Cottages also allow easy access to all parts of Devon, West Somerset and North Cornwall . Lynton and Lynmouth on the North Devon coast are very popular with tourists for a day out. Sea trips are available from the pretty harbours at Lynmouth, Coombe Martin and Ilfracombe, where trips to Lundy Island can be booked.
Barnstaple is a good shopping centre within easy reach, as is Tiverton, with the county town of Exeter just a little further. There are excellent surfing beaches at Woolacombe, Putsborough, Croyde and Saunton, all within easy driving distance. Exmoor National Park headquarters are in nearby Dulverton, a pretty little market town. Land rover safari trips around Exmoor can be booked from the national park headquarters. The National Trust has several interesting properties in the area, including Knightshayes House, Arlington Court , and Killerton. The picturesque villages of Selworthy, Allerford and Bossington, all near Porlock in Somerset are mainly owned by the National Trust, and famous for their pretty 'chocolate-box' thatched cottages.
The Dulverton area is very popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Horse riding can be arranged locally from Oaktree Cottages (including moorland rides). Exmoor 's varied landscapes of wild heather moorland and secret wooded valleys, together with a wealth of wildlife, means there is always something special to discover. Take a drive across the moor and you may see the famous red deer and Exmoor ponies, or perhaps a buzzard circling above. Birdwatchers will always find something of interest, as there is an abundance of bird life in this area due to the diversity of habitats on Exmoor and the surrounding countryside.
